In Loving Memory

Douglas J. Reil
September 09, 1956 - June 08, 2014

Douglas J. Reil entered the Gates of Heaven on June 8, 2014 after passing away peacefully in his sleep unexpectedly. Known by his family and friends as Doug, was born in Bath, Maine on September 09, 1956. Doug loved traveling but Maine was always the place he called home. Doug was employed for a number of years at Bath Iron Works and also with a number of other employers until his post-polio condition rendered him unable. He loved music and was very skilled on the guitar, drums, keyboard and singing. Doug had a beautiful soothing voice when he sang! He loved fishing and would often go on fishing expeditions with his father. He also spent a lot of time fishing and family get-togethers, which included watching the Greenville Drive with his brother Ken and family. Doug also loved the Boston Red Sox. He spent the last, almost 3 years, searching for his missing son Jason Reil. Jason is a registered missing person with the Brunswick, ME Police Department. He often did media interviews in which he asked the public to please help look for his loving son. In his honor, his family asks that the public please continue Doug’s mission and to report any findings or sightings of Jason. Doug is loved and will be missed by many.
He is survived by his children, daughter, Angela Reil, of Augusta, ME; son, Jason Reil (missing) of Brunswick, ME. His father and stepmother, Walter T. Reil, and Diana Reil of Brunswick, ME; a brother and sister in law, Kenneth S. and Tammy Reil of Greensville, SC (formerly of Rockland, ME); and his sister Victoria L. Cunningham of Brunswick, ME. Stepfather, Robert Russell , of Poland, ME and five stepsisters, Linda Adams, Rae Ann Webster, Cindy Martin, Lisa Lee, and Holly Buvier, two step-brothers, Gary Russell and David Russell. He also leaves many grandchildren, several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews whom he adored.
Greeting him in heaven, his mother, Louise (Hyde) Russell, who passed August 2006 of Poland, ME and his brother Randall T. Reil, who passed before him in June of 2004 of West Swanzey, NH.
A Celebration of Life will be announced to family and friends, at an upcoming date, and will be held at Popham Beach in which his ashes will be scattered per his wishes. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Reil`s memory to LostNMissing Inc., 26 Noyes Road, Londonderry, NH, 03053 or online at http://lostnmissing.org/donate.
